This is a slightly sweet and lightly nutty rice. We enjoyed it very much and i will definitely order ot again.
We've been ordering bulk rice for a few years now. You can taste a huge difference between this fresh rice and the stuff that's been sitting around in warehouses and retail stores for way too long. The shipments have always been prompt and the rice is always high quality. Now it comes in a prettier looking package, too.

We have been eating Chico brown rice for a few years now, and I can’t imagine a better rice. Perfect texture and flavor, easy to cook, and the company has good values.
I used this rice twice in my brand new rice cooker (actually the same one that is pictured in the directions on "How to Cook Brown rice in a rice cooker". I used 1 cup rice to 2 cups water. Time was 1 hr. 10 mins. Rice was hard and there was still water left in the cooker. Then I had a brilliant idea-SOAK THE RICE!! It's not in the directions, but the rice was perfect! I soaked it for about 1 1/2 hrs., room temp. And then cooked it using the 1 cup rice to 2 cups water ratio. NOW I am excited about cooking this rice more often.
I tried this brown rice through Rancho Gordo, and ordered direct when R. G. was out of stock. We eat a fair amount of brown rice, at least several times per week, and this has become our favorite. It is nutty, flavorful, a little bit chewy. Pairs well with lentils or beans, is equally good with olive oil and herbs for a savory breakfast, with or without an egg, or just as a plain side dish. I look forward to trying the blond rice.
We’ve been enjoying Chico Rice organic brown rice for a number of seasons now, still consistently the best flavor and texture. We usually prepare the rice in a Zojirushi rice cooker from Japan that has a special GABA Brown rice setting that naturally activates the GABA in each rice kernel and also softens the rice to taste closer to white rice. Thank you Chico Rice for continuing to offer such a high quality organic rice here in Northern California. You offer us daily sustenance with your organic brown rice.
I've placed several orders now with Chico Rice. I would have liked to ordered organic but the status has changed. My Asian friends claim that there are other rices out there that they prefer. I can't imagine what I'm missing. My rice is consistent as far as taste, texture, flavor etc. I will most likely continue to order Chico Rice.
I wanted to get something to make my new Zojirushi "pop," and this is it! It is so flavorful, easy to cook brown rice. Delivery was great, the packaging works well for freezer storage, and the rice is good time, after time.

Just spoke with a lovely sounding gentleman at Chico Rice, named Tom. Explained that my shipment of rice seemed to be dropped off the face of earth by USPS. The postal service confirmed that they did have my order at one time and started the shipping process, but have no idea where is actually ended up at. Tom assured me that my order would be reshipped. Chico rice is fantastic tasting and if Fresno was not so far from Willows, I would go pick it up myself, 10 stars for customer service, and disregard my previous one star review. As for USPS, not even a fleck of star dust for them.
Love the new bulk bags as they are easier to handle and store ! Freshest rice I only buy this one now.

I tend to shop local where ever possible. I also have fond college memories of Chico and Northern CA. When I saw the Chico Rice sign off the I5 after a recent road trip and had to get some on order.
The rice is high quality, priced right, and well branded. I bought the bulk brown rice and would recommend it to others.

I have been using Chico rice for about 7 years now and it is the best rice on the market. I used many other brands of rice in the past but find Chico rice to be the best rice. It cooks really well in my rice cooker and comes out great.
